![]() The APA is what Purebred Dog Fans, Owners and Breeders have been waiting for. It's a purebred dog organization focused on appearance, not paperwork. No over-bearing rules, no complicated registrations or beaurocratic hassles. We don't sanction shows or keep endless lists of pedegrees. The APA exists to serve Purebred Dog Owners and only register purebreds that represent the best of their breed. That's good news for people who have purchased Puppies registered with other organizations that end up looking nothing like the Breed they are supposed to be a part of. Please take some time to learn more... |
The APA exists to allow for the Registration of purebred dogs. To avoid the pitfalls that other organizations have experienced, the APA requires photographic proof of a purebred's charateristics. Anyone desiring to register their purebred must submit a short application, two photos of their animal (a front and side view) along with our registration fee of just $10 (non-refundable). Dogs of any age qualify, but puppies must be at least eight weeks old (and photos must be taken at 8 weeks or later) to be registered. Our staff will review the application and study the photos of your dog. We are looking for physical characteristics of the breed submitted. If they are present, we will issue you a Purebred Registration Certificate stating that the APA has decided that your dog has met the physical qualifications of what a purebred of the breed submitted should be. If your dog fails to meet what we consider to be the physical qualifications of what a purebred should look like, we will send you a registration rejection letter. Your fee cannot be refunded. Use the list of links below to research the characteristics of the breed you're submitting for registration. |
APA registrations are not transferable to or from other Dog Breeding Clubs or Organizations. That's because our registration process is not based on the background of an animal, but it's appearance. We feel this better serves the needs of many breeders and pet owners who want a purebred dog to look like one, despite what a piece of paper might say. We have also simplified the process of Litter Registration which so often creates problems for those with purebreds having puppies. Parents do NOT need to be APA registered in order for you to register a litter! Just submit two photos of each one of the parents (front and side views), the litter application and a fee of just $25.00 (non-refundable). We do not charge a per puppy fee. If the parents meet the qualifications of the APA, registration papers for each puppy will be sent to you. The entire process usually takes less then a week. APA Registrations are not a verification of pedagree, but rather a definitive statement of quality. APA registered animals have been examined by a neutral third party and found to possess the characteristics of a purebred dog of the breed submitted. |
The APA was established by concerned Purebred Breeders in response to increasing frustration with other organizations which register pets sight unseen. Given the opportunities for fraud without visual registration, almost any dog could end up being considered a purebred as long as the paperwork said so. DNA testing has only complicated the situation with many registrations now being questioned or cancelled due to fraud. The APA exists to serve the needs of Purebred Breeders, not complicate their lives. We make Purebred Puppy and Dog Registration a simple and painless process. Register online or by mail. Membership and Registration is by Invitation Only. Catherine Knell is our current Administrator. She is also your Breeder / Sponsor for Purebred Registrations. Catherine will be happy to help find the answers to any questions you may have. Contact The APA:

POOs: The APA accepts the registration as Yorkiepoos, Cockapoos and other POO variations. We hope to be an inspiration to other Purebred Dog organizations who have taken few if any steps to accomodate these new breeds. |

GREENIES Warning: We have received a number of emails from Dog Owners who have had their pets die or become seriously ill allegedly from being given Greenies (a dog treat meant to clean teeth and provide pleasant breath odor). These pet owners claim that Dogs seem unable to fully chew the treats and the Greenies cause a blockage in the dog's digestive system. The manufacturer recommends that people use the correct size treat for their dog. Use your own best judgement. |
